Adel Gastli, is an accomplished academic and expert in the fields of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and quality assurance in higher education. Adel Gastli started his professional journey by earning a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Engineering School of Tunis, Tunisia in 1985. He began his career at the National Institute for Standards and Intellectual Property, where he worked for two years on the standardization and certification of electric products in Tunisia. With a thirst for academic excellence, Adel Gastli pursued further studies and received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan in 1990 and 1993 respectively. He then worked at the R&D Department at Inazawa Works of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation in Japan until 1995. In Aug. 1995, Adel Gastli joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, Oman, where he served as the Head of the Department from Sept. 2001 to Aug. 2003 and from Sept. 2007 to Aug. 2009. He established the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Research Group (RASERG) at Sultan Qaboos University in 2003 and served as its Chair until Jan. 2013. In Feb. 2010, he established the University Quality Assurance Office and served as its Director until Jan. 2013. In Feb. 2013, Adel Gastli joined the Electrical Engineering Department at Qatar University as a Professor and Kahramaa-Siemens Chair in energy efficiency. He was also appointed as the College of Engineering Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in August 2013. Currently, he serves as the Director of Academic Program Review & Assessment Unit under the Academic Planning and Quality Assurance Office at Qatar University. Adel Gastli is a Senior IEEE member and ABET Program Evaluator. He has participated in several ABET program reviews inside and outside the USA. His research interests include energy efficiency, renewable energy, electric vehicles, smart grid, and quality assurance in higher education.
